The most disengaged, unpleasant employees I have seen in quite a while. No smiles, no "how can I help" and no "Thank you" in fact, the entire transaction took place with barely a word spoken. Food is consistent with airport or hospital food

I picked up a to go order for a friend staying at the La Quinta nearby. She wanted a baked potato called Spud Ole'. I told her to add a cheese spud for me and I would pick up the order. I got there at 8:45 pm and the order was just coming up to the window. One of the Two young guys running the place greeted me as he answered a question from the other guy who was zipping around the place like a sprinter at the track. Told him I was here for a pick up and he started to bag the order. As he did he apologized for not having it ready and explained both he and the other guy had worked doubles and were the only employees there besides the cook. I could see they were both a little burnt out but he was friendly even if he did serve a little TMI. We open our order and everything was right but my cheese spud was prepared different from the one on Perkins. There was much more cheese on the cheese spud. I'm not complaining and neither did my cheese loving friend, but I know it was more than the normal amount. Both spuds were piping hot, delicious and so huge neither of us could finish. Even with all the free extra cheese I can't give the place more than 3 stars. It could be a lot cleaner and the last time I ate inside here there were a few snags with my order. I would eat here again because I love their baked potatoes and the iced tea is pretty good too. Hopefully the messiness is temporary and due to short staff.

My first and only experience with McAlister's Deli occurred last week. Seeing they had a muffuletta on the menu, I decided to try that. Coming to about $14, it's not exactly a cheap sandwich. But boy, was it big. Like, had to be put into 2 to-go boxes big. That's about as far as its good qualities went though. Upon removing it from the box, it was quickly apparent that this sandwich was an overwhelmingly 80% bread. The bread wasn't even good - it had a sort of stale crustiness to it and the flavor was nearly nonexistent. Nonexistent flavor proved to be a running theme of the entire sandwich. The olive salad, of which there was only a very thing schmear, was pretty much flavorless. This paltry portion of the only semi-wet condiment on the entire sandwich did nothing to assuage the overwhelming aridity of the giant slab of crusty bread. The meat consisted of a couple of thing slices of ham and a couple thin slices of salami. There was no attempt whatsoever to include mortadella or anything resembling mortadella. Handing me a muffuletta without mortadella is like giving me a cannoli without ricotta. There's no point in even trying. The lamentable layer of meats paled in comparison to the bread. Though it started with about a 10% ratio of meat to bread in the center of the sandwich, the meat tapered out to a single slice at the edges of the bread - truly a mockery of a sandwich. Removing a sample of the meat from the bread and trying it alone proved futile - the ham was undetectable even on its own and the salami provided only the slightest gustatory proof of its existence. The single slice of cheese on top of the meats may as well have not even existed. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be swiss or provolone, and its presence would have gone completely unnoticed were it not for my dissection of this imitation muffuletta. It was certainly there in the form of a microscopically thin white layer atop the meats, but its lack of flavor and abundance left me unsure of what type of cheese it could even be. To put it quite bluntly, this was not only the worst muffuletta I have ever encountered, but absolutely the worst sandwich, hands down. To call itself a deli is beyond erroneous. McAlister's is a complete farce. Shame, McAlister's. Shaaaaame.

Don't order to go! ...unless you are going to diligently check your order before you leave. My office regularly orders online from McAllister's and sends one lucky coworker to pick it all up. The first time there was no chicken in my Chicken Caesar Salad. Another time, they totally forgot my dessert. A few coworkers usually have strange additions to their meals, as well as missing pieces. Other than messing up orders, the food is pretty good.

Haven't had a poor restaurant experience like this in a while. We arrived there and I ordered a half of a muffaletta and a cup of country potato soup. My boyfriend ordered a bread bowl of the broccoli and cheese soup. When they brought the food out, I only received a 1/4 of a muffaletta and the soup. After about 30 seconds of waiting to eat, my sandwich had already gotten cold. It tasted horrible, too. As for my boyfriend, they didn't even include the bread bowl. The server had to bring it back to the kitchen. The kitchen staff didn't realize he had done this and it took a total of 18 minutes to get his bread bowl of soup. Then he got it and was extremely disappointed. The image displayed on the menu was MUCH different than what he received. After all of this, our server felt bad for everything that happened and offered us a dessert on the house for our troubles. We accepted. There being two of us, he put two pieces of cheesecake in the togo box. The server's manners and politeness was the best part of our experience this evening. Yvette Marie's Cafe has very similar items, but MUCH better quality. So if you're looking for this style food, that's my recommendation. DONT EAT HERE

My best friend and I go here for dinner or lunch every time I'm in Baton Rouge. I get a bacon spud and sweet tea and I'm in heaven. They use to have this yummy dessert of Brownie Ala Mode on the menu but for some reason they took it off. It's cheap and delicious so what more could you ask for?

Checked this place out today because the line wasn't out the door as it usually is. We all ordered our meals and I asked for a sweet tea and the guy at the count asked if I wanted a lemon and I replied no. As we waited for our drinks I was informed that we only purchased 1 drink and the other 2 of us had no drink. We waited almost 30 minutes for our sandwiches (with no drinks) and they ended up coming out cold. The side items were very bland and tasteless. My guess is the line is always out the door due to the slow service. If you can avoid this place it would be in your best interest. Jason's Deli right across the street is much faster with better food. Or you can get something quick and tasty at wichwich.

What a lucky stop while out of town. I had a combo, spud and Chicken Tortilla Soup. Fantastic! The Soup was nicely spicy and the spud so large I was unable to finish it. Our group also had the French dip, chowder and a salad. All great choices. I had never heard of McAlisters and fortunately some of my travel companions had. I really wish there was one near my office so I could select more healthy choices. At McAlisters, one can.

I eat at this location quite often. It is directly across the street from my office. I've checked in here but I have never written a review. Just had an experience here worth talking about!! Service is always good here but myself and my partner just had a GREAT experience at McA! To wash away all the Fat Tuesday sin we went over to the deli to grab up some of their giant potatoes. Well they just popped some into the oven and they would take a bit....we decided to grow some patience and wait. During our wait, the manager comes over and offers us an appetizer. REALLY! SURE! So she returns with a huge plate of chips with queso dip. Not realizing that McA's queso was sooo good!! We finish up the queso and chips like we were a pack of wolves. Then one of the waiters refilled our sweet tea and asked if we wanted dessert because there was still a wait.....he knows the way to a girl's heart! We declined though (remember it is Ash Wednesday!) Our potatoes were delivered piping hot and our bellies rejoiced. If the service continues on this path, the Siegen location will remain forever in my heart!

I have loved McAlister's since college. The food is consistently good and the sweet tea is amazing. What really sets this location apart is the service. My fiance and I ate lunch here last weekend and my fiance left a pen on the table. It doesn't look valuable at all, but it's something he's had for years and it has great sentimental value. When he realized he left it, he called McAlister's and they told him they would look for it. It's only about an inch long and it's covered in dents, so we were certain that it had been thrown out when our table was cleared and were not expecting to get it back. The manager, Bill, ended up calling my fiance back late in the afternoon to tell him that they had found the pen. They actually went through the trash to find it, cleaned it, and gave it back to him. We were so appreciative and they never once acted inconvenienced. This was a great experience and it just makes me love McAlister's even more.
